Metabolism. It's a complicated subject. Most people I know would like a faster one. What is it? Your metabolism is the process your body goes through to break down nutrients to provide energy for your body. It works around the clock, but sometimes not so well. The purpose of this article is to offer a number of different ways for you to boost your metabolism if you would like to lose weight or just eat more (for energy of course).

While genes and age impact everyone's metabolism, a substantial amount of our metabolic rate is under our own control. These action steps are the focus of this article, which are research based and all natural ways to boost your metabolism.

Different macronutrients (protein, carbs, and fat) require different energy expenditures by the body in order to digest the food. Protein burns roughly 5x-6x more calories during digestion than a similar amount of calories of fat and about 3x more than carbohydrates. Eat your weight in protein grams and see your metabolic rate soar.

Proper hydration is also key in aiding digestion. With our bodies made up of nearly two-thirds water, it is not beyond reason to think that dehydration can inhibit most bodily functions, including metabolism. It is also important to try to eat a serving of protein with every meal. Consistency is also key. Eating six meals one day and three the next can impact your metabolic rate. Skipping meals is dangerous for your metabolism. It is important to eat a high protein meal early in the morning to get your metabolism running again after a night of fasting.

I also recommend eating whole foods rather than those that are processed and typically loaded with chemicals, sugar, and fat. If you choose to eat a packaged food, make sure you read the food labels to understand the nutrition content of the food and what other harmful chemicals and additives may be in your food. Something like high fructose corn syrup tricks your brain and body and doesn't stimulate an insulin response, which can lead to overeating.

In terms of exercise, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) for cardio is much better for metabolism than long, slow and low-intensity training. Implementing a program that cycles through frequent bursts of sprinting followed by moderate jogging or walking can give you a great metabolic workout in just twenty minutes. Weight lifting can also have a huge impact. Not only does more muscle on your body mean more calories burned, but each individual workout can boost your metabolism for up to two days, assuming you work out until failure while targeting no more than twelve reps per exercise, but preferably eight.

If you want your metabolism, brain, and overall body to function at its best, it is important to get a good night's sleep. Although sleep may not impact metabolism directly, a lack of it can cause you to crave unhealthy foods and skip workouts. Get the proper rest.

Other food and drinks that can help boost metabolism are green tea, cinnamon, healthy fats like those from cold-water fish, avocados, nuts, and fish-oil supplements, caffeine (in moderation), and hot spices like cayenne. Also, be mindful of the quick-fix cures. If you could take a pill to be skinny, the American obesity rate wouldn't be 35%.

Basics About Gastric Bypass Surgery In Mexico

Gastric bypass surgery is a procedure that is done on human or animal stomachs to subdivide it into 2 sections. The portions comprise of two pouches, the upper and lower. The upper division is normally very small compared to the lower one. Gastric bypass surgery in Mexico is comprised of several variations. The variations come about due to different methods through which the stomach portions are relinked to the intestines.

The result of all gastric bypass surgical procedures is a reduced stomach capacity. Another result is a change in the physiological and physical reaction of stomachs to food. Patients who have had this procedure feel a sudden onset of stomachs feeling full. This feeling is followed shortly by an incresing satiety or in-difference to food. The entire process results in reduced ability of intestines to absorb food primarily fats and starches.

This surgical procedure reduces the volume of the belly by more than 90 percent. Stretching of the pouches is avoided by constructing them from belly tissues that do not stretch like other stomach tissues. Although the pouches do not gain more volume by enlarging, the point of connection between stomachs and intestines may stretch with time.

There may be a slight increase in the volume of the belly after some time. Most increases in volume occur too late after most weight causing obesity has been lost already. In most cases also, only a reasonable weight level can be supported by the stretched bellies. There is sudden stretching of stomach walls upon ingesting a small quantity of food. The stretching causes the brain to receive signals that the belly is filled with food. This is the reason for the sensation of fullness of stomach even after eating little food.

Subsequent food must be eaten slowly and cautiously because rushing can cause one to vomit or feel a lot of discomfort. To benefit totally from the surgery, patients are advised to eat 5 to 6 small meals in a day. One should avoid eating other meals such as cookies and confectionary between meals because that can easily render the treatment useless.

The meals taken days after surgery should not exceed 0.25-0.5 of a cup. This amount should be increased slowly to a cup within one year. Obesity is known to recur if eating habits are not controlled well after undergoing the surgery.
